River Flow House Ratchaburi
Relax in This Hidden Homestay
Last year (2025) we spent a lot of time exploring the lovely and surprising province of Ratchaburi, just a couple of hours west of Bangkok, and stayed at the wonderful River Flow House Homestay.
River Flow House is a very friendly and comfortable homestay on the bank of the Maeklong River in Pothoram district of Ratchaburi province. Breakfast is included in the room price but no other meals are provided, don’t forget it’s not a hotel but someone’s home, but the owners and staff are super helpful.

It’s perfect for a relaxing getaway, with the river running gently alongside, bird songs in the air, pretty gardens, an unexpectedly excellent swimming pool at your door, and outdoor loungers for napping, or perhaps writing the next chapter of that book you keep meaning to finish.
A Home Away From Home
The best part is the lovely, friendly owners, who not only welcome you to their waterside home but also give you your privacy with very comfortable rooms. In fact, while the rooms aren’t ‘5 star fancy’, they provide better amenities and comfort than many mainstream hotels. It feels like being what it is, a home.

The WiFi was fast, there’s a TV (which we didn’t use), a small fridge, water, and some very useful QR codes, one for ordering food delivery from outside, and another listing activities and places to visit in the area.
The bed was very comfortable and we slept well, while the bathroom was immaculately clean, with fresh towels, soap, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, with an easy to use but efficient shower.
Breakfast was a bit basic but there was plenty of it, cooked while you wait, and freshly picked local fruit, plus of course good coffee.
Why We Stayed There
We chose it because it’s in a very quiet location in a small village, but there is a market a short walk away, and a few places to eat some delicious local food. For us it was a good choice as we enjoy driving aimlessly around remote areas to see what surprises we come across, and we did. It was also a perfect place to get away from our suburban home and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Why You Should Stay There
If you’re a tourist, hire a car (there’s plenty of parking spaces) and get away from the hectic mass tourist spots, and if you already have a car it’s the perfect base for exploring the beautiful and historic province of Ratchaburi. There is so much to see and do that you’ll be surprised at some of the discoveries you can make.
